If you are posting to a discussion forum, you can share a link/URL/hyperlink with others on your course:

1. On the website you want to share a link to, copy the URL from the address bar at the top (right click and copy, or use Ctrland C).
   
   
2. On the VLE discussion forum, you can paste in the URL (right click and paste, or use Ctrl and V).
   
   
3. To add a hyperlink, highlight the text you want to link from.
   
   
4. Right click and choose Insert/Edit Link.
   
   
5. In the Link URL field, paste in the URL (right click and paste, or use Ctrl and V).
   
   
6. Next to Target, choose New Window.
   
   
7. Give the link a description.
   
   
8. Click on Insert.
   
   
9. The link should appear in blue, and your classmates should be able to click on to get to the link

If you have typed a word that your browser does not recognise, then you should see it highlighted in red. To view the possible alternative spellings, first click on CTRL on the keyboard, and then right-click with the mouse. You can then choose an alternative spelling

When you click on a tutor's name anywhere in Moodle, you see their profile. At the bottom of their profile there is an option to Send a message.

If a tutor is online, they may be able to see the message straightaway as a pop-up message (depending on how they have set their Messaging preferences). If they are offline, they will get a copy of your message directly to their email (again, depending on their messaging preferences, they may not receive this straight away).

If when you click on the tutor's name the option to send them a message is not available (this might happen when you are not enrolled on the course that they teach on), then please contact them by another means e.g. email, telephone, the Student and Programme Centre)

If you are not already enrolled in a course you can search for it by module code or name.

From any page in the VLE go to the Search courses field on the top right of the screen and enter the code or part of the name. Make sure you are looking at the right location and/or academic year.

Sometimes you may be able to 'self-enrol' on a course, in which case you can click on Enrol me to access it. 

Alternatively, if you find you cannot access a course you should have access to, and it is more than 24 hours since you logged into the VLE for the first time, please contact your tutor in the first instance.

All the emails relating to your student account, including any email notifications from the VLE (Moodle), will go to your student email address. You may want to set up a forward so that you receive notifications to your personal email account.

To have your college email account forward all incoming mail to another email address, follow these instructions: 

• In the top right-hand corner of your email homepage, click on the cog icon and then on Options.

• Under Accounts select Forwarding.
  
  
• Click into the Start forwarding option.
  
  
• Enter your alternative email address in the field Forward my email to:

• Decide whether you want to Keep a copy of forwarded messages. If you untick this option, all emails will be deleted from your student email account once they have been forwarded to your alternative account.

• Click on Save.

Your email will now be forwarded to your personal email account. A copy will stay in your university email account. Remember to login to your KCC college e-mail account every 2 months to ensure it remains active.

Click on home at the top left of the page, or on Home on the Navigation block.

Use the My Courses dropdown menu at the top of the page. You will see a list of the courses you are enrolled on; clicking on the course name will take you to that course.

Alternatively, use the My courses area of the Navigation block. Click on the arrow head icon to expand the menu and then click on the link for the course that you want to go to.

Alternatively, go back to the homepage, and click on the link to the course from there

There are four ways you can access the courses you are enrolled on:

1. The quickest way is to click on the My Courses dropdown menu at the top of the VLE (Moodle).
   
   Clicking on this will show you a list of your courses (24 hours after logging in for the first time), typically in the order of:academic school, programme site, modules (with most recent at the top), and lastly any support sites you are enrolled on.
   
   Click on the course name to access that course. 
   
   
2. From the front page you should see the courses you are enrolled on displayed with an image. Click on the link one from there.
   
   
3. Click on the My home link on the top left of the page.This will show you the courses you have access to, in the usual order, as well as highlighting any upcoming events (e.g. essay deadlines if you have been asked to submit electronically) or unread forum posts.
    
4. Use the Navigation block to click on My courses (click on the arrow head icon to expand the list rather than on the word 'My courses').

You can change your email settings so that the VLE (Moodle) only sends you one email every afternoon, containing all of the email notifications from that day.

1. When you are logged in, hover over your name on the top right of the screen and then on Edit profile.

2. Click on Preferences to expand the available editable options.

3. Next to Email digest type choose Complete (daily email with full posts).

4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Update profile.

Also, if you have the option, you can unsubscribe from forums and you will not receive an email every time that someone posts to a forum. It is recommended that you choose the above option so that you get receive a snapshot of the activity on your VLE/ Moodle site.

Your VLE profile displays information about you to other VLE users. Although there is some information you cannot change here (your name and email address, for example), you can make changes to your email and forum preferences, choose to display the VLE in Welsh, add a description.
